VideoLetters
From Networked Advocacy
[1] VideoLetters.net is a great example of how a communications tool, in this case video, can be used to strengthen a broken network. The Video Letters project uses video as a tool for reconciliation in post-war countries & a conflict prevention tool in multy ethnic societies. By reconnecting former enemies, Videoletters contributes to open communication and makes reconciliation possible.
The project started in the Balkans, and many of the videos that were taped are made by former friends who no longer see each other. A television series was created from these videos and was broadcast on 7 networks throughout Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Serbia, Monte Negro and Kosovo.
The project is also available online, and it allows people to upload their own video letters. An episode has also been filmed in Rwanda and they hope for expansion in the project there.
